The British Asparagus Festival in the Vale of Evesham, The Cotswolds, runs from the 23rd April-21st June and has been voted as one of the 2010 top ten quirkiest events in England in the ‘Where Else but England awards’.

Angela Tidmarsh, Wychavon’s Tourism Officer, is working to put the festival on the map. She says: “Demand for the supply of local asparagus is becoming greater and greater every year. The festival keeps it in the forefront of everyone’s mind. It’s become a very popular vegetable and has done the Vale no end of good.”

Visitors to the festival this bank holiday Monday (31st May 2010) can enjoy asparagus meals and tastings, a Farmers Market, local arts and crafts, ‘yesteryear’s folklore’ talks and presentations by Dr Colin Harris, Children’s activities, local ales, ciders, wine and much more.

Further information about the festival can be found at www.britishasparagusfestival.org.
